Tampere Airport (IATA: TMP, ICAO: EFTP), officially Tampere-Pirkkala Airport is the second largest international airport in Finland as almost 100% of its passengers are travelling internationally. In total passenger numbers it is the fourth biggest in Finland. In year 2015 there were 357.000 passengers travelling via Tampere Airport. Tampere Airport is a joint airfield, which serves both civil and military aviation.

Airport is located approximately 17 km away from the city center of Tampere and it is easily reached also from west and north. Transportation connections make it ideal from all directions.

Year-round there are several daily flight connections to Stockholm, Sweden and Helsinki, Finland  and flights six days a week to Riga, Latvia. Seasonal direct flights are to Bremen, Germany and Budapest, Hungary. Tampere-Pirkkala is very important for region’s economy and an important connection point to Europe. Tampere Region is strongly committed to the development work of Tampere Airport. Tampere-Pirkkala aims to become the international home airport of Inland Finland. Air transportation development project ”AiRRport” targets for smooth and easy air travelling directly from Tampere to Europe. Today, when time is valued as a currency, it is increasingly important for region’s economy to have a busy and actively developing airport in the area. Tampere Region strategy is to develop Tampere Airport as an important gateway between Europe and Finland.

T1 terminal:

Open:   Terminal is opened approximately 2 hours before flight departure.


Ground Transportation to the airport

Public transportation: Tampere City bus with route number 1A operates to the airport from the city center. The bus leaves from Tampere Railway station and at the airport in the front of Terminal 1. Online bus schedule is visible in right side of this page; ”Buses”.

To Ryanair flights: according to flight schedules. Tokeen liikenne Oy operates between Tampere Railway station and Terminal 2.  Return bus from the airport departs after flight arrival, estimated schedules given. We recommend you to check the schedule two (2) days before departure from company’s website.
Price: 6Eur/direction, cash only.

Flybus: Shuttle service is available to passengers traveling on Finnair, SAS and AirBaltic morning/night flights. Flubys takes passengers to central hotels (see timetable here) for the price of 10Eur per person. No need for reservations, and passengers are not required to stay in the hotels where the bus stops.

Taxi: Taxi station in front of Terminal 1.

Airport Taxi: Tampereen Aluetaksi offers Airport Taxi service from Tampere city center to Airport and vice versa.  Price is 19Eur per person including one normal size baggage.

Driving: Driving to the airport with your own car is easy.  Finavia parking areas are located in front of both terminals. Parking area for people with disabilities are located in immediate vicininity of terminals and are specifically designated.
